Dear Parents and Guardians of Juniors and Seniors,
Navarro High School is pleased to offer our Juniors and Seniors the opportunity to take the ACT during the school day on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, for the reduced cost of $40.
The ACT is one of the two major college entrance exams used by colleges and universities across the United States. Even as admission policies vary among colleges, an ACT score can be an important part of a student's college and career planning. Scores may be considered for college admission, scholarship opportunities, course placement, and demonstrating college readiness. Taking the ACT can also help students determine whether the ACT or SAT format better highlights their academic strengths.
ACT School Day Information
Test Date: Tuesday, October 13, 2026
Payment Deadline: Friday, September 25, 2026
Who May Participate: Juniors & Seniors
Students must pay the $40 testing fee no later than September 25 in order to participate. Students who submit payment by the deadline will be registered for the ACT by Mrs. Bauer, CCMR Advisor. Students do NOT need to independently register for this School Day administration. Payments can be made using in the Parent Square app or by Cash or Check to Student Services.
What Will Students Take
For this administration, students will take the three required ACT Sections:
English: 50 questions - 35 minutes
Math: 45 questions - 50 minutes
Reading: 36 questions - 40 minutes
The science and writing sections will NOT be included in this School Day administration.
The three required sections provided approximately 2 hours and 5 minutes of actual testing time, not including instructions and breaks. ACT Composite scores are reported on a 1 - 36 scale and are calculated using the English, Math, and Reading scores.
Students should expect ACT scores to become available approximately three weeks after testing, although individual score-reporting timelines may vary.
ACT or SAT - Why Take Both?
The SAT and ACT measure many of the same college-readiness skills, but the tests are structured differently. Some students perform better on one test than the other simply because the format better matches their testing style.
The ACT is a linear test, meaning students move through the questions in the same format without the test changing difficulty based on previous answers. The ACT includes separate English, Math, and Reading sections.
The SAT is a digital, adaptive test with two major sections: Reading and Writing and Math. The difficulty of the second module of each SAT section is influenced by the student's performance on the first module.
Both the ACT and SAT are widely accepted by U.S. colleges and universities. Taking the ACT gives students another opportunity to demonstrate their academic abilities and can help them determine which exam provides the stronger score for their college and scholarship applications.

Students are strongly encouraged to prepare before test day. ACT provides several official preparation resources at no cost.

Testing Accommodations
Students who receive testing accommodations at school should see Mrs. Bauer as soon as possible. ACT has a separate process for approving accommodations, and school-based accommodations do not automatically transfer to teh ACT. Mrs. Bauer can discuss available accommodations with students and families and determine what steps may be necessary.

We strongly encourage juniors and seniors to consider taking advantage of this opportunity. Taking a college entrance exam during the school day provides students with valuable experience and gives them another score they may be able to use as they explore colleges, scholarships, and postsecondary opportunities.
