Navarro ISD, in partnership with St. Philip's College, offers a dual credit program that allows eligible juniors and seniors to earn both high school and college credits at the same time. These are rigorous college-level courses, taught by St. Philip's adjunct faculty, which also fulfill state curriculum requirements for specific high school courses.
Students in dual credit courses are taught and graded just like college students. Upon successful completion of a course, students immediately receive college credit. Most of these courses will transfer to any public Texas college or university if a student earns a 'C' or better.
Navarro High School covers all tuition fees for these dual credit courses, providing students with a valuable opportunity to complete essential college "basics" and earn transferable college credits before graduation.
Dual credit opportunities are available in various formats, including online and traditional classroom settings at Navarro High School. Courses cover core subjects like English, science, social studies, and math, as well as select humanities electives.
Students interested in participating must meet the eligibility and enrollment requirements set by St. Philip's College. Currently, only juniors and seniors are eligible for dual credit courses.
While Navarro High School covers tuition, online and college campus courses may incur textbook and other incidental expenses from the cooperating higher education institutions. Any such fees passed on to students will be clearly identified in the Dual Credit Agreement, which students and parents will sign as part of the registration process.
