Dear Panther Families,

This is a follow-up to the earlier ParentSquare alert regarding the fire alarm activation at the High School.

As previously stated, the fire alarm sounded between 5:00-5:15PM, indicating smoke within the school’s ventilation system. Our staff immediately initiated the evacuation procedures, ensuring the safety of all students and staff. No other campuses were affected by this incident and were able to safely continue with after-school activities.

Local fire and emergency response teams promptly arrived on campus and diligently investigated the source of the smoke which was contained to the front office area. The HVAC system was immediately turned off preventing any further issues to systems in other areas of the school. Thankfully, other areas of the campus were unaffected and systems are still operational. We will have contractors on site tomorrow to begin repairs for the damaged areas.

The County Fire Marshal has given the all clear that students and staff can return to campus and operations will proceed as normal tomorrow, January 14.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to the Guadalupe County Fire Rescue with assistance from Geronimo Volunteer Fire Department, Seguin, New Braunfels, San Marcos and Lake Dunlap Fire Departments, as well Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office for their swift response and unwavering support in ensuring the safety of our school community.

We understand that this situation may have caused concern, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Sincerely,
Chelsea Ormond
